Draw My Fence estimator tool giving instant fence pricing for a local contractor

The Challenge

Every fence contractor knows this drain on their week: quote requests from people who are nowhere near ready to buy. Someone calls wanting “a rough number,” the contractor drives out or spends 20 minutes on the phone, works up an estimate, and never hears back. The price was double what the caller imagined, and there was no way to know that before investing the time.

Multiply that by every tire-kicker in a week and it adds up to hours of unpaid estimating work. Our client, a local fence contractor, wanted those hours back without turning away real customers.

What We Did

We built them a custom estimator tool called Draw My Fence.

It works the way it sounds. A customer opens the tool, draws their fence line on a map of their property, picks their fence type, and gets instant pricing. No waiting for a callback, no site visit, no phone tag. In a few minutes they know roughly what their project costs.

That instant answer does two jobs at once:

It serves the customer. People want a ballpark number before they talk to anyone. The tool gives it to them immediately, which makes the contractor the easiest company in the market to get a straight answer from.

It qualifies the lead. By the time someone submits a quote request through the tool, they’ve seen the pricing and they’re still interested. The people who just wanted a rough number got one without costing the contractor a minute. The people who reach out are the ones ready to move forward.

We built the tool with AI-assisted development, which let us go from concept to a working product in a fraction of the usual time. Product decisions, pricing logic, and design stayed with us and the contractor. AI handled the code.

The Results

  • Hours saved every week on estimates that would never have turned into jobs
  • Unqualified leads filter themselves out before they ever reach the phone
  • The contractor now spends estimating time only on serious, price-aware prospects

The tool is live at draw-my-fence.lovable.app. It’s a good example of what custom AI tools can do for a local business: not a chatbot gimmick, but a working piece of software that solves an expensive, everyday problem.

What powered this project

AI-assisted development

Went from concept to a working, customer-facing product in a fraction of traditional development time. Product decisions and pricing logic stayed human.

Map-based estimator UI

Customers draw their fence line on their own property, pick a fence type, and get instant ballpark pricing.

CRM integration

Quote requests arrive with the drawing, footage, and fence type attached, so every lead is pre-qualified before the first call.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does giving instant prices scare customers away?

It filters, which is the point. People who just wanted a rough number get one without costing the contractor a minute. The ones who submit a quote request have seen the pricing and are still interested.

Could a tool like this work for other trades?

Yes. Any business that loses hours to unqualified estimates, from concrete to fencing to landscaping, can use the same pattern: give the customer an instant answer, and let the serious ones identify themselves.
